Kuan Yin is the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, whose title signifies "She who always observes or pays attention to sounds"; she who will always hear prayers. The pendant is intricately carved in copal, whose subtle color is enhanced with beads of red rutile in quartz, and with rich brown serpentine patterned in a tortoiseshell design.

In this amulet, the monk crosses his legs and covers his face and head to protect himself from being influenced or impacted by the evil forces that surround and tempt him. Sometimes, this pose is referred to s the "Crying Monk" position. This si believed to be a strong amulet for protecting oneself from knives and guns, and for protecting oneself from harm in business and love matters. The necklace Incorporates bodhi tree seed pods, tiny silver grey spacers, and ebony wood beads, each bead encircled with a thin silver band and crafted in Mali.
